Chosen annually by Prank-O, the world’s preeminent maker of novelty gift boxes, the Fooly Awards recognize outstanding achievement in mischief-making on tomfoolery’s most hallowed day… April Fools' Day.
The pranksters have pranken. There were a lot of big laughs this year, but these are the ones that rose to the top. Give it up for the winners of the 2026 Fooly Awards!
2026 PRANK OF THE YEAR
Whisker X Cataire

Whisker came, Whisker pranked, Whisker conquered. The Michigan-based pet care brand behind the Litter-Robot unveiled its newest product line: designer sweaters made of cat hair. Impeccably-named Cataire, the tag accurately states “it’s already what you wear.” What we loved most about this prank is Whisker’s commitment to the joke with an entire product page on its website devoted to the feline fur collection. Feature callouts include that its “naturally occurring luxury,” “designed to cling,” and comprised of fibers produced daily on your couch and “every single black sweater you own.” But what happens if a gullible cat owner clicks on the link to purchase one of these cat-chic sweaters? They’re brought to an eBay bidding page supporting the efforts of New Beginnings Animal Rescue. This prank’s got heart!
BEST “THIS IS HOW IT STARTS” INVENTION
Satechi

With today’s technology, you can track your car keys, your luggage, your grandma. But what about the most frequently misplaced item you own? Missing socks. Electronic brand Satechi offered up a solution to this recurring dilemma with a new mundane-as-it-is-dystopian tracking device: FindAll™ Socks. The fake product promises to keep tabs on your always-disappearing foot garments with built-in chips for pinpointing their precise location. It starts with a sock, and ends with a robo-pocalypse.
MOST LIKELY TO INCITE A REGIONAL RIOT
WaWa

Wawa has a rather, erhm, passionate customer base. So when the Philly-area gas station and convenience store chain announced on social that it would be renaming its beloved “hoagies” to the simpler “subs” because of its “ever-expanding footprint,” the reaction was expectedly aggressive. Fans who weren’t in-the-know on what day it is flooded the comment section with questions like “why do you hate us?” and demands like “this is disgraceful delete this now.” Don’t be surprised if you see a couple flipped cars at your local Wawa this evening.
BEST PRANK FOOD THAT TURNED OUT TO BE REAL FOOD - CRUMBL
Crumbl

Sometimes the best pranks are the pranks that prank you into thinking it's a prank. *Cue existential meltdown* Cookie chain Crumbl garnered some eye rolls when it posted about an obviously fake “Almost Everything Bagel Cookie”, only to shock customers who showed up to the store to find they were actually selling them. Available for one day only, it's topped with everything bagel seasoning and filled with cream cheese, making it the perfect “don’t knock it 'til you try it” offering from a brand that’s always experimenting with the cookie medium. Way to prankception us, Crumbl!
